Advanced Employment Services is seeking an experienced HVAC Service & Installation Technician to join a growing team providing residential and light commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning services throughout the Billings area. This position is ideal for a motivated technician with strong diagnostic skills who takes pride in delivering quality workmanship and outstanding customer service.

The technician will perform HVAC installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of heating and cooling systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless mini-split systems, and ventilation equipment. Job Duties

HVAC Service & Repair
– Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential and light commercial HVAC systems.
– Perform preventative maintenance and seasonal tune-ups.
– Inspect heating and cooling equipment for proper operation and efficiency.
– Identify mechanical and electrical issues and recommend appropriate repairs.
– Replace motors, capacitors, contactors, thermostats, ignitors, flame sensors, blower assemblies, compressors, and other HVAC components.
– Check refrigerant pressures and identify refrigerant leaks.
– Perform system performance testing after repairs are completed.
– Accurately document all service work performed.

HVAC Installation
– Install complete heating and cooling systems in residential and light commercial buildings.
Install:
– Gas furnaces
– Central air conditioning systems
– Heat pumps
– Ductless mini-split systems
– Thermostats and smart controls
– Indoor air quality equipment
– Ventilation systems
– Install and modify ductwork as needed.
– Ensure all installations comply with manufacturer specifications and local building codes.
– Test newly installed equipment to verify proper operation before project completion.

Maintenance Responsibilities
– Perform routine maintenance inspections.
– Clean evaporator and condenser coils.
– Replace filters and inspect airflow.
– Lubricate moving components when required.
– Inspect electrical connections and controls.
– Test safety switches and operating controls.
– Evaluate overall system efficiency and recommend improvements.

Customer Service
– Explain repair recommendations and maintenance findings to customers in a professional manner.
– Maintain a clean and organized work area inside customers’ homes and businesses.
– Complete service reports accurately and thoroughly.
– Represent the company professionally while delivering exceptional customer service.

General Responsibilities
– Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
– Safely operate recovery machines, vacuum pumps, recovery cylinders, refrigerant gauges, leak detectors, combustion analyzers, and other HVAC diagnostic equipment.
– Maintain service vehicles, inventory, and tools.
– Follow OSHA regulations and EPA guidelines regarding refrigerant handling and workplace safety.
– Participate in on-call or overtime rotations as needed.

Job Requirements

– Previous HVAC installation and service experience required.
– Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
– Experience servicing residential and light commercial HVAC equipment.
– Knowledge of:
– Gas furnaces
– Air conditioning systems
– Heat pumps
– Ductless mini-split systems
– Ventilation systems
– Indoor air quality products
– Ability to read wiring diagrams and installation manuals.
– Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
– Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
– Ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
– Dependable attendance and professional attitude.

Preferred Qualifications
– EPA Section 608 Certification preferred.
– HVAC certifications are a plus.
– Experience with Trane, Mitsubishi Electric, or other major HVAC manufacturers is beneficial.
– Experience with emergency service calls and after-hours troubleshooting is preferred.

Physical Requirements
– This position requires the ability to:
– Lift 75 pounds regularly.
– Carry furnaces, condensers, air handlers, tools, and materials.
– Stand, kneel, bend, crouch, climb ladders, and work in attics, crawl spaces, and mechanical rooms.
– Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
– Perform repetitive lifting, carrying, climbing, and overhead work throughout the day.

Requirements
– Valid driver’s license (required).
– Reliable transportation (required).
– Clean driving record preferred.
– Ability to pass pre-employment screening.
– Strong employment history with verifiable references.
– Ability to work overtime and participate in an on-call rotation when necessary.
