Advanced Employment Services is seeking a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Convenience Store Cashier to join a busy convenience store team in Billings, Montana. This position is responsible for providing outstanding customer service while accurately handling cash transactions, stocking merchandise, maintaining store cleanliness, and ensuring the store is fully operational during evening and weekend shifts.
The ideal candidate is honest, dependable, comfortable working independently, and able to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.
Applicants must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. A successful till test is required prior to employment.
Job Duties
Customer Service
– Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
– Provide fast, accurate, and courteous service.
– Assist customers with purchases and answer questions regarding products.
– Handle customer concerns professionally and notify management when necessary.
– Maintain a positive attitude while serving a high volume of customers.
Cash Handling
– Accurately operate the cash register and point-of-sale (POS) system.
– Process cash, credit card, debit card, EBT, and other approved payment methods.
– Count change quickly and accurately.
– Balance cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.
– Maintain accountability for all cash transactions.
– Follow company cash handling procedures and loss prevention policies.
– Candidates must successfully pass a cash handling/till test demonstrating accuracy in counting money and making change.
Store Operations
– Stock coolers, shelves, displays, and merchandise throughout the shift.
– Rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) methods.
– Check expiration dates and remove outdated merchandise.
– Receive and organize incoming deliveries.
– Maintain attractive merchandise displays.
– Assist with inventory counts when needed.
Cleaning & Maintenance
– Keep the sales floor clean and organized.
– Sweep, mop, dust, and sanitize work areas.
– Clean coffee stations, beverage areas, and food preparation areas.
– Clean restrooms and maintain sanitation standards.
– Empty trash and replace liners.
– Keep parking areas and entrances clean when needed.
Food & Beverage Service
– Prepare coffee and other beverage stations.
– Restock food displays and coolers.
– Monitor freshness of prepared food items.
– Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Security & Safety
– Monitor the store for theft or suspicious activity.
– Verify identification for age-restricted purchases.
– Follow all safety and security procedures.
– Report accidents, equipment issues, or suspicious activity immediately.
– Help maintain a safe environment for customers and coworkers.
Job Requirements
– Previous cashier, retail, customer service, or convenience store experience required.
– Strong cash handling and basic math skills.
– Excellent customer service and communication skills.
– Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
– Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
– Dependable attendance and punctuality.
– Ability to work independently during slower shifts.
– Honest, trustworthy, and dependable.
Physical Requirements
– This position requires the ability to:
– Stand and walk for extended periods.
– Lift up to 50 pounds while stocking merchandise.
– Bend, kneel, squat, and reach frequently.
– Stock shelves, coolers, and displays throughout the shift.
– Perform repetitive cleaning and stocking duties.
– Work in a fast-paced retail environment for the duration of the shift.
Requirements
– Ability to pass a till test (REQUIRED).
– Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
– Reliable transportation to and from work.
– Ability to pass pre-employment screening.
– Strong employment history with verifiable references preferred.
