We are seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined Yard Laborer / Maintenance Technician to work in a busy steel erection and fabrication yard. This is a hands-on position responsible for general yard duties, preventative maintenance, equipment upkeep, CNC machine maintenance, record-keeping, and miscellaneous repair projects throughout the facility.
The ideal candidate will have some electrical experience, strong mechanical abilities, and experience working around industrial equipment and machinery. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, stays organized, and can recognize and address maintenance issues before they become larger problems.
The ideal candidate is a jack-of-all-trades type of maintenance person who is comfortable working in an industrial environment. This person should be able to handle routine equipment maintenance, basic electrical work, CNC machine upkeep, preventative maintenance, yard duties, and miscellaneous repair projects while keeping accurate maintenance records.
Job Duties
– Perform general maintenance and repairs throughout the steel yard, shop, and facility.
– Maintain and assist with troubleshooting CNC machines and other shop equipment.
– Perform routine preventative maintenance according to established schedules.
– Complete and maintain accurate daily and monthly maintenance logs.
– Inspect machinery and equipment for wear, damage, leaks, electrical issues, and other potential problems.
– Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and minor electrical repairs within experience and training.
– Maintain and repair hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and yard equipment.
– Perform mechanical repairs, equipment adjustments, lubrication, and replacement of worn components.
– Complete miscellaneous maintenance and repair projects as needed.
– Perform general yard labor, cleanup, organization, and material handling.
– Keep maintenance tools, supplies, and replacement parts organized.
– Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
– Report major mechanical or electrical problems requiring specialized repair.
– Follow all safety procedures while working around steel, heavy equipment, machinery, and electrical systems.
– Assist with additional yard, shop, and maintenance duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
– Some electrical experience required.
– Previous maintenance, mechanical, industrial, construction, or equipment repair experience preferred.
– Must be mechanically inclined and comfortable troubleshooting equipment problems.
– Experience working with or maintaining CNC machinery is highly preferred.
– Ability to accurately complete daily and monthly maintenance records.
– Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
– Ability to perform physical labor and work both indoors and outdoors.
– Must be dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
– Strong attention to detail and workplace safety.
– Must be available to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
– Willing to perform a variety of duties, from equipment maintenance and repairs to general yard labor.
