Advanced Employment Services is seeking a dependable and motivated Disaster Restoration Technician to join a professional emergency response and property restoration team serving residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional clients throughout Montana and Northern Wyoming. This is a fast-paced, hands-on position that responds to emergency property losses caused by water, fire, smoke, mold, storms, trauma, biohazard incidents, and other disasters.

This is more than a construction job, it’s an opportunity to help families and businesses recover during some of the most difficult times of their lives. Because disasters can happen at any time, this position requires participation in an on-call rotation and the ability to respond to emergency situations after hours, on weekends, and on holidays when scheduled.

Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record that meets insurance requirements for operating company vehicles. Candidates must also be able to pass a criminal background check and meet company, client, and insurance requirements for employment.

Job Duties

– Emergency Response & Disaster Restoration
– Respond to emergency service calls involving:
– Water damage
– Fire and smoke damage
– Storm damage
– Mold remediation
– Sewage backups
– Trauma and biohazard cleanup
– Other emergency property losses
– Extract standing water using commercial-grade water extraction equipment.
– Set up, monitor, and remove structural drying equipment, including air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, and specialty drying systems.
– Perform demolition and removal of damaged drywall, insulation, flooring, cabinetry, ceilings, and other building materials.
– Clean, sanitize, deodorize, and restore structures affected by water, fire, smoke, or mold damage.
– Perform smoke and soot removal using specialized cleaning techniques.
– Assist with mold remediation and containment procedures.
– Perform trauma and biohazard cleanup while following strict safety and decontamination protocols.
– Pack, inventory, move, and protect customer belongings during restoration projects.
– Install containment barriers to prevent contamination during mitigation work.
– Monitor moisture levels using moisture meters and thermal imaging equipment.
– Document job progress with photographs, moisture readings, and written reports.

Construction & Restoration
– Perform selective demolition during mitigation projects.
– Remove damaged drywall, insulation, flooring, trim, cabinetry, and other building materials.
– Assist with reconstruction and property repairs when required.
– Perform general labor associated with restoration and reconstruction.
– Load and unload restoration equipment, tools, and materials.
– Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites throughout every project.
– Assist with carpet cleaning, air duct cleaning, and specialty cleaning services when assigned.

Equipment Operation
– Safely operate and maintain:
– Water extraction equipment
– Air movers
– Commercial dehumidifiers
– Air scrubbers
– Moisture meters
– Thermal imaging cameras
– HEPA vacuums
– Carpet cleaning equipment
– Demolition tools
– Hand and power tools
– Ladders and extension ladders
– Clean, inspect, and maintain restoration equipment after each use.
– Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment immediately.

Customer Service
– Provide professional and compassionate customer service during emergency situations.
– Explain restoration procedures and answer customer questions.
– Maintain professional communication with homeowners, business owners, insurance adjusters, and property managers.
– Complete accurate job documentation and daily reports.
– Represent the company professionally at all times.

Safety Responsibilities
– Follow OSHA regulations, IICRC standards, and all company safety policies.
– Properly wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, eye protection, protective suits, and hearing protection.
– Safely work around damaged structures, contaminated materials, and hazardous environments.
– Report unsafe conditions immediately.
– Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Job Requirements

– Previous experience in disaster restoration, water mitigation, construction, demolition, remodeling, or general labor preferred.
– Experience with water damage restoration, fire restoration, mold remediation, or biohazard cleanup is highly desirable.
– Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
– Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and restoration equipment safely.
– Excellent communication and customer service skills.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
– Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
– Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond professionally during emergency situations.
– Willingness to learn industry standards and restoration techniques.

Physical Requirements
– This is a physically demanding position requiring the ability to:
– Lift 75 pounds or more on a regular basis.
– Push, pull, carry, and move heavy restoration equipment and building materials.
– Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, crawl, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
– Work in attics, crawl spaces, basements, rooftops, and other challenging environments.
– Perform repetitive lifting, demolition, cleaning, and equipment setup throughout the workday.
– Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
– Wear personal protective equipment for extended periods.

Requirements
– Valid driver’s license (REQUIRED).
– Reliable transportation (REQUIRED).
– Clean driving record required to meet insurance qualifications for operating company trucks and emergency response vehicles.
– Must be able to pass a criminal background check and meet company, client, and insurance requirements for employment.
– Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency service calls after hours, on weekends, and holidays.
– Ability to pass pre-employment screening, including drug screening if required.
– Strong employment history with verifiable references preferred.
