We are seeking experienced Metal Fabricators/Welders to join a busy steel erection and fabrication yard. This position requires significant hands-on welding and metal fabrication experience and is intended for candidates who can confidently work in a production and structural steel environment.
The ideal candidate will be dependable, safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, and capable of completing fabrication and welding work accurately with minimal supervision.
Compensation
Starting at $20+/hour, depending on experience and skill level.
Higher starting wages may be considered for candidates with extensive structural steel fabrication and welding experience.
Job Duties
– Perform welding and fabrication of structural steel and other metal components.
– Measure, cut, fit, grind, and assemble steel according to specifications.
– Perform accurate welds on a variety of steel components and assemblies.
– Read and interpret measurements, shop drawings, blueprints, and fabrication specifications.
– Operate welding machines, grinders, saws, torches, and other fabrication equipment.
– Fit and tack components prior to final welding.
– Inspect completed work for proper fit, weld quality, and accuracy.
– Assist with material handling and other steel yard operations as needed.
– Maintain tools, equipment, and an organized work area.
– Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required PPE.
– Complete physically demanding work in an industrial steel yard environment.
Job Requirements
– Significant previous welding and metal fabrication experience is required.
– Strong knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques.
– Must be proficient in measuring, cutting, fitting, and assembling steel.
– Ability to read a tape measure accurately and perform basic shop math.
– Ability to read blueprints/shop drawings strongly preferred.
– Experience working with structural steel strongly preferred.
– Must be comfortable using grinders, saws, torches, and other fabrication tools.
– Must be able to lift and handle heavy materials and work on your feet throughout the shift.
– Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
– Must be able to work safely in an active steel erection/fabrication yard.
